Umaga dusts off the boots for Charity

Tana Umaga pulled his footy boots back on in the name of charity last weekend at the Mudgee Grassroots Rugby Festival.

Umaga played for the Australian Barbarians side that beat the Australian Police XV 85-0 in an exhibition match in Glen Willow, Australia.  In fairness, the Barbarian side coached by Wallabies Coach Robbie Deans was stacked with international players from a variety of codes including Scott Robinson and George Greegan.  Tana also got to play with his boyhood hero league legend Brad Clyde.

“It was a fantastic event that was so well supported” said Umaga.  “It was great to see so many clubs and teams come out and make the most of the event.  It is always good to see people of all ages, who are so passionate about rugby. enjoying football.”

The event was hugely supported by locals raised an impressive amount of funds which went to the Mudgee Police.   A Barbarians signed jersey went for $2400 Australian dollars and a jersey that Umaga signed went for $1200 Aus.
