Tana Umaga Joins Forces With Youthtown
We are very pleased to announce Tana Umaga as our Ambassador for our Sports Programme at Youthtown, which is delivered during school time and takes part in our holiday and after school programmes as well.
The former All Black Captain, and now Blues Coach, was a regular visitor to Youthtown in his youth and he has a passion for ensuring that Kiwis grow up to be physically literate and enjoy sport.
This makes Tana a perfect fit with us, to help achieve our vision to "Empower young New Zealanders to be the best they can be". He will be present at some of our events and functions and we have engaged him to collaborate with us to optimise the value of our Sports Programme, through his observations on youth development. Tana obviously has got children himself, so he related quite strongly to what we offer right across our programmes.
The clear success of Youthtown’s Sports Programme, in the development of school children, has led to the growth of our other programmes (Holiday and After School, Outdoors, Youth Leadership and Community). This strong growth, within key communities across New Zealand, means that Youthtown is much more accessible to young people than ever before.
Having Tana as the face of Youthtown’s Sports Programme means such a lot to us at Youthtown, and we know the young people we have in our programmes will be very excited.
