Tana Umaga, New Zealand Rugby Union resource coach, Darryl Suasua and Northland ITM Cup Head Coach Adriaan Ferris and Northland Assistant Coach Darren Whitcomb went to Argentina in May for a Rugby Forum.
The New Zealand group took part in the Jockey Club of Rosario and the San Isidro Club Rugby Forums where the coaches shared their rugby knowledge and skills with almost 400 coaches from around Argentina.
The coaches addressed the rugby forums in English, with the translation provided by former Argentina international Pumas players, Diego Albanese and Thomas Vedia.
During their week long stay in the country the coaches from New Zealand also enjoyed the Argentinean hospitality and sights in addition to some media obligations.
“It was a good experience to be back in Argentina, the last time I was there in 2001 when we played in the River Plate Stadium, where we just scored in the last minute to snatch the victory,” said Umaga
“The people were really good to us and it was great to try and help share our rugby knowledge with such a wide variety of coaches through out their country” said Tana.
Argentina is set to become part of the Investec Rugby Championship competition this year which was the former Tri-Nations series between South African, Australia and New Zealand.
