The Foundation

TUF was established to support talent and reward hard work.  The objectives of the Deed are:

1. To encourage and assist promising New Zealanders, with a focus on young people who are hardworking and who might not otherwise have the opportunity, to achieve and excel in their education and achieve their potential.

2. To establish a scholarship to be awarded to a student or students who have attended Wainuiomata High School.

3. To undertake such other activities and provide such other assistance whether by way of financial assistance, scholarships or otherwise as the Trustees see fit of a charitable nature for the benefit of New Zealanders.

The Charity

Tana Umaga Foundation Scholars

2012 student selection (commencing study in 2013)

1. Robert Urquhart – Papakura High School

Studying at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand in Wellington. Rob commenced the Diplome de Cuisine on a full scholarship. Partners in this scholarship are Le Cordon Bleu NZ, Te Puni Kokiri and Tana Umaga Foundation. This scholarship is for the duration of his study at Le Cordon Bleu.


2. Sean Hill – Papakura High School

AUT University is where Sean will complete his Bachelor of Design majoring in Digital Design. His scholarship is for three years.

3. Ninwa Karimo – Papakura High School
Ninwa is studying towards a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology atAuckland      University. The scholarship is for three years.


Fio Seaso – Porirua

A one-off scholarship assisted Fio complete her Design degree at Massey University Wellington campus.

1. Gabriel Tupou – Wainuiomata High School

Studying at Victoria University undertaking a double degree in Arts and Law on a three year scholarship.

2. Nikita Temple – Wainuiomata High School

Victoria University is where Nikita is studying law. Her scholarship for was for one year.

3. Olivia Ryan – Wainuiomata High School

The Wellington campus of Massey University is where Oli is studying towards a Fine Arts degree. This was a one year scholarship.
